Michael Butler, MPT, OCS, SCS received his Bachelor of Science in the Biological Sciences from Ohio University in 1998 and his Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) from the University of Pittsburgh in 2000. In 2008, Mike received his board certification as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and also received his board certification in 2012 as a Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS) from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Sports Physical Therapy Section. Mike is certified in IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization).
Prior to joining TSPT in 2006 as a staff physical therapist in the Seven Fields Office, Mike provided outpatient orthopaedic physical therapy care in the North Hills and Cranberry areas of Pittsburgh since 2000 with a strong interest in manual therapy and sports medicine. He has been the supervisor of Athletic Training services for the Seneca Valley School District since 2003. In July 2013, Mike was promoted to the Director of Rehabilitation for the Seven Fields Office.
In addition to treating high school, collegiate and professional athletes, Mike has served as an interscholastic and youth ice hockey coach for Shaler Area High School (1998-2005), Seneca Valley High School (2005-2008), Pittsburgh Hornets (2011-2012) and the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (2010-2011, 2012-2015). He delivers physical therapy and sports medicine care to the Western Pennsylvania ice hockey community with an emphasis in the rehabilitation of injured hockey players.
