Specialties: Hip | Knee

Michael R. Pagnotto, M.D. joined Tri-State Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in 2011. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, graduating cum laude, and his Doctorate of Medicine from Columbia University in New York City. Dr. Pagnotto completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh and then completed a fellowship in hip and knee replacement at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. While at Princeton, he was a two-year captain of the Sprint Football team, president of the Alpine Ski Team, and an Academic All-Ivy League selection.

Dr. Pagnotto was himself a Tri-State patient in 1995 as a North Allegheny High School football player. Dr. Failla, Dr. Jewell and Dr. Langhans took care of his knee injury, and he told them then that he wanted to be an orthopaedic surgeon. They told him to come back when he was finished with training. Fifteen years later, after Princeton, Columbia and the Mayo Clinic, he did exactly that. Dr. Pagnotto specializes in total hip and knee replacement, including primary and revision procedures, minimally invasive and robotic-assisted joint replacement, complex revision surgery, multimodal pain management, and partial knee replacement. He is a designated UPMC Hip and Knee Center of Excellence surgeon at UPMC Passavant Hospital, serves on the editorial board of The Journal of Arthroplasty, and is a published researcher and national conference speaker. Dr. Pagnotto is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
